Tinseltown in the Membrane – Wes Archer Solo Show
Join us for the opening of Wes Archer’s solo exhibition, Tinseltown in the Membrane.
Tinseltown in the Membrane presents a body of paintings by Wes Archer, an artist whose career has long spanned animation and popular culture. Having worked on The Simpsons, King of the Hill, and Rick and Morty, Archer draws on the visual language of cartoons and the backdrop of Hollywood to create works that feel both familiar and uncanny.
In this exhibition, he translates the eclectic, softened qualities of animation into painting—a medium often considered more stoic and unforgiving—allowing paint to carry the elasticity and wit of the moving image while grounding it in a deliberate, tangible form. The result is a collection of works that blur parody and homage, mass culture and personal imagination.
Tinseltown in the Membrane also offers viewers a chance to experience Hollywood through the lens of a native artist, rendering the city’s glitter and grit with both humor and intimacy, and revealing the creative spaces where work, play, and culture intersect.
We will be hosting a private opening reception on October 4th, 2025, and be open to the public October 5th through October 31st. The night of October 5th will also include a performance by Super Groove Technology.
